To date, students have collaborated on the study of mountain
geography, climate, geology, and conservation.
The current focus is an investigation of how local tourism
of mountain regions can be balanced with the protection and
preservation of mountain environments and the culture of
people who live in mountain communities.
Prior to our visit, Ms. Goldberg invited students to identify
and agree upon a specific mountain region for a case study.
Through group-established norms and protocols, and with the
assistance of Ms. Goldberg's expertise
and use of instructional technology in learning environments,
the class selected the Blue Mountains of Australia.
We observe as students work in groups to achieve the established
learning outcomes of the unit, and what we're witnessing
is a combination of collaborative learning and individual
productivity in action – assessment
of and for learning with technology….
